In 1913 the Parisian Cloak Company moved to the downtown location at Main and Petticoat Lane and changed its name to Harzfeld's...On April 10, 1954, Harzfeld's opened its first branch in Kansas City on the Country Club Plaza, which is considered the country's first planned "shopping center" development, and today is a widely copied model for other prestigious shopping areas...Harzfeld's was known as a mecca for the elegant and fashion-conscious woman. The store's image had been built on affording its patrons with a comprehensive collection of leading world designers. Couture labels in the French Room included Norman Norell, Halston, Bill Blass and many others. There is also a scattering of tiny holes at about the same location on the other side which can be repaired in the same way. One armhole has stitching coming loose at the seam and just needs to be handstitched back. All of these issues are on the lining and cannot be seen from the outside when worn.
